Why should I have a builder involved in the design phase, especially when we may not break ground for a year?

By incorporating the builder in the design phase it allows project costs, and budget targets be kept in perspective throughout the design.

It’s not uncommon for a potential homeowner to contract an architect or designer to produce a set of building plans, only to find that the contractor prices the project out of the customers budget. Or a lender appraises the cost to build above comparable market trends, and refuses to lend on the project. Both scenarios leave the homeowner stuck, and back to the drawing board.

How is Terra different?

As Juneau’s only in house “Design Build” contractor, we proudly offer design rebates for projects we design and build that incorporate green building methods, or projects seeking Alaska “BEES” 6+ Star, LEED ratings, carbon neutral, net low or net zero emissions, or other national green build certifications.
